Back from meeting with other members of the FAMVIN/Vinformation team. Just reworked the Follow Us widget on FAMVIN News. Hope this version makes good sense and will encourage folks to explore our Facebook presence, Youtube channel and email update service.

I’m not sure what the PayPal integration does — it’s under ”Integrations” — I found that in the drop down menu under ”Account”– I have been investigating the PayPal donate button for websites, etc as well. But, be have to get the business account set up with PayPal. Do you do that on your website?

I looked at the trial — I don’t have a pressing need right now. I thought the free level at Mailchimp would do nicely for my needs. But, I see a lot of folks using constant contact…

Hey Connie — The email (e-blast) looks very nice. I’ve not used Constant Contact, but I’ve used MailChimp, mostly because of the fact that I can send up to 6000 emails/month (up to 1000 subscribers) for free. I’ll have to check to see if the page from MailChimp email has the FB, LinkedIn stuff available.

OK – so the FAMVIN family of websites is looking at some common branding and possibly a new logo to use across all sites… make it a somewhat more seamless experience. If we run a poll on famvin.org/en/ will you guys respond? We will need feedback.

I’m looking for resources to help me design some usability studies. I know, from a previous life in academic libraries, that I can get most of my data from 7 users… but how to design the questions to be addressed?

I too am suspicious about the viability of an organization with a website that has not been updated in months or years. One can’t put up a page/site and then ignore it. In many cases this is the public relations face of an organization.

Over at famvin.org, we have varying schedules for updating: the “News” sites are updated almost every day; the Encyclopedias are sporadic as folks find the time and energy to add/revise content; Vinformation is updated frequently. The General Assembly is over, so I’ve upgraded all of the cmglobal sites to WordPress 3. Seems to have gone well. That is one of the issues that we face when setting up sites using any Content Management software (Drupal, Wordpress, EE, Joomla)… keeping the background applications up to date.     Yes — I’ve updated many, but not all of the famvin sites to 3.01. I’ll get to the others, probably today. Twenty-Ten is a very flexible theme that is easily customized through the admin interface.
